Cancer is Canada’s leading cause of death and, right now, two in every five Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. None of us can change these statistics on our own, but together, as a community, we can create a world free from the fear of cancer.
Our Princess Margaret community includes a team of brilliant, dedicated doctors, researchers and other cancer experts – individuals who work tirelessly to innovate and improve outcomes for cancer patients everywhere. But they can’t do it alone. Every one of our supporters fuels their work; every lottery ticket you purchase makes you part of this powerful community and brings us one step closer to conquering cancer.
Your support has already made a difference. Over the past decade, we have made more progress in understanding and treating cancer than we have in the previous 50 years – this is because of people like you who share in and support The Princess Margaret’s vision. As a result, today we can detect some cancers much earlier through a simple blood test known as a “liquid biopsy”. And we have transformed the treatment of certain types of cancer, using immunotherapy and other targeted therapies that eliminate cancer without creating debilitating side effects.
